The 2017 PURCO SA Conference and Exhibition in East London was a huge success.
Conference presentations, video'd speakers and photos from the event as well as the social functions will be made available here as soon as our technical team has prepared them for online distribution.

The annual PURCO SA conference was hosted by the Eastern Cape Region from the 25th to 27th October 2017 at the East London International Convention Centre. Almost 350 delegates and 58 exhibitors from all over South Africa, Botswana and Namibia attended, alongside leading industry speakers delivering engaging presentations.

The theme for the conference was “Enterprise and supplier development - a key to transformation”. The conference succeeded in creating a platform where procurement professionals and their supplier partners shared ideas, research and practical experiences and challenges.

The Eastern Cape Committee Organising Committee and Hosts for this year’s conference were University of Fort Hare, Walter Sisulu University, Nelson Mandela Metropolitand University, Rhodes University, the Port Elizabeth TVET College and PURCO SA.

The conference was keynoted by former deputy minister of Finance MR Mcebisi Jonas and Professor Sakhele Buhlungu, Vice Chancellor of the University of Fort Hare. Senior procurement and finance staff from all PURCO SA member institutions across the subcontinent attended.

The conference included a supplier exhibition which was run between the speaker sessions.The event included:


  • Three day restricted access conference with almost 350 delegates
  • Plenary sessions plus work group sessions
  • Programme content targeted at strategic executives, procurement managers, operational buyers and their supplier colleagues
  • Talks from leading experts on the procurement road ahead
  • Talks on exciting new Topics


  • 58 suppliers contracted to PURCO SA and member universities


  • Informal evening dinner function – 25 October 2017.
  • Formal / Traditional  gala dinner – 26 October 2017.


A JPPF (Joint Procurement Planning Forum) meeting was hosted at the venue on 24th October.
