PURCO SA Core Business Segments - Consultancy Services

Consistent growth was achieved by the PURCO SA Consultancy Division and consulting income contributed 18% to PURCO SA Revenue for the year.
Revenue from consulting projects increased by 13% from the prior year’s R22.1 million to R25.1 million in 2021-2022.

BROAD SCOPE OF PROJECTS

Projects and engagements during the year included once off interventions as well as multi-year contracts for 15 Member institutions.

Some of the engagements included:

  • Catering
    Viability study to assist management to appropriately consider the merits and implications of insourcing or outsourcing catering services.
  • Construction and infrastructure
    Engagement of a team of engineers to conduct a 3-month building valuation audit of 44 buildings
  • 12-month Infrastructure Programme management team to monitor a construction project, sign off progress payments, and assist with quality control.

  • PV installation on all campuses

Financial
• Finance team facilitator
• Payroll tax compliance
• Development of Policies and Procedures for a
Financial Aid Office, in order to review and reconcile
NSFAS funds.
• Streamlining of a the Procure to Pay process at a
University library.
• Project management services ERP.

Human resources and capacitation
• Appointment of a Tender Manager for six 6 months.
• HR Process review.
• Organisational Health and Ergonomics project.
• Placement of temporary contract staff to capacitate
a University SCM department.
• Two-year Executive Coaching and Leadership
Development programme.

Information technology
• Integrated workplace management system.
• Enterprise architecture project.
• IT Infrastructure project that included a gap analysis
on the current IT infrastructure versus the latest
technologies and best practices. A tender was issued
to procure the services of an implementing agent for
the project to be completed over 2 years.
• Network optimisation evaluation. 

Printing
• Printing consultancy project

Security
• Completion of an Integrated Security Assessment
and issuance of a tender to procure the services of
an implementing agent.


Student accommodation
• Development of technical specifications for
the evaluation and appointment of student
accommodation service providers and security
management services. The project included the
development of SLA’s, Memoranda of Agreements
and Lease agreements.

Student transport
• Transport engineers viability study into the use of
electric buses for student transport.
• Student transport tenders at three universities.


Supply chain management
• SCM services and bid specifications project
• Tender management project.
